I have gibson les paul studio and am in need of a nut replacement. I was wondering if it is possible to replace MYSELF (i am a teenager and therefore have little to no woodworking skills with guitars) or if I should take it to the local guitar repair shop. thanks for your help and advise!

It can be done at home.I've done it myself…in fact I made a brass one from a blank piece of scrap. It's not rocket science, but it requires patience and a little skill with tools. The fact that you have no woodworking skills should be the deciding factor. I recommend that you bring it to a guitar repair shop and have it done right.

There's more involved than simply fitting in a new nut. Once the nut is fitted into position, the slots need to be filed to the proper depth.This is one of the things that affects your action.Even on a nut that has pre-cut slots, the final adjustment is necessary. You need a set of small files, a steady hand, and patience.

We have started a small business selling arts and crafts and woodworking.I am looking for an open source cheap or free inventory software.Ideally I am looking for something that will let us input all of our raw supplies and create products out of those supplies.I am looking for it to then calculate the cost of the product based on all the raw materials used.I have found a website online that does this, but it is in beta.I rather stay away from websites that may just disappear.Any suggestions on what to look at would be appreciated.

I've seen this guy around my school, let's call him Connor. He's very invisible to everyone that he only have 4 friends with him and 6 friends on facebook. He's very shy that he avoids people and hide during break or lunch time. I've known him since I was in grade 8 but I actually took a interest in him when I was grade 9-10. I'm in grade 11 now and he's in grade 12 now. I developed my feel toward him. I caught lot of signs that he want to talk to me.
When I looked at him, he was looking me. When I walk by him, we made a eye contact. When I smile at him, he smile back.
One time in woodworking, he actually took a paper and pencil to chat with me (I'm deaf). He stood up because my table was front of him then he looked at me, he was so tempted to move forward but he was like "screw it" and sat back down. He stayed silence for the whole class. Even though Connor and I was the only one in the classroom while other was in other room doing projects.
How do I start a chat with him? His locker is right across from mine so I thought that I should tap on his back and wave sometimes.. should I? I'm stuck! 🙁 I would love to get know Connor better.

Get Workbench magazine if you can but they also have a website.All kinds of projects and project help.You might also look into the Handyman Club of America…they deal with more than woodworking but it is inexpensive to join and you get a magazine monthly and have access to the website for technical help.If you are going to finish woodworking projects, (stain,etc.) go to Minwax.comThey are very good about giving tips on materials and "how-to" for finishing.

Well, I'm a bit nervous because of my daughter's interests. She is very talented in art, she does sketch, ceramics, woodworking, pastel, watercolor, oil painting, but esp. oil painting. She can be very formal when she needs to be however, if she's unfamiliar w/ someone she can be very secretive and unwilling to give out any information esp. to my business partners and tutoring teachers. (she does warm up to people after 2 weeks or so…) She is very cheerful, honest and it seems like parents and students like her. (except for the really strict teachers for some reason) She can be very annoying sometimes cause she talks a lot if ur very close to her and sometimes she can be oblivious to people's feelings, like compliments but people interpret it in a bad way when she doesn't mean to. Her math, english, and history is excellent except her grammar, sports, and science. If it means anything, she has an astounding sense of smell and she knows a lot about people's personalities by looking at them. Note: the psychologist says she does not like little children because she doesn't like to be reminded of her childhood. (She REALLY hates kids)

Sounds like she has some more growing up to do; in conjunction with perhaps some psychological issues (as suggested per her visits with the psychologist).Because of that, it's difficult to really guage her interests correctly at this time.

I have been pretty successful doing yahoo (or google) search using woodworking plans or similar terms.One of the sites where I found some interesting stuff is http://woodworkingplansforfree.net which has some plans (although you need to dig a little to find them).There are also some videos and other stuff.I also eventually purchased the Ted's Plan (advertised everywhere) as there are so many plans included for one cost that is was worth it to me.
